Hot on the heels of Arsene Wenger adding Anthony Martial to the
neverending scroll of players he ALMOST lured to Arsenal, Martial's
agent has hit back at the Gunners' manager's claims that he refused to
sign the former Monaco prodigy because he was a 'winger' instead of a
forward and because he has (the rarely played and often loaned) Joel
Campbell at his disposal.
Needless to say, Wenger's comments have gone down about as smoothly as
one of Gunnersarus' dumps with the Emirates faithful. Arsenal fans have,
after all, become accustomed to hearing of how Wenger could have, but
ultimately didn't attract the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Yaya Toure,
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria and Kenwyne Jones (OK, we might have
made that last one up). Yet when another name is added to that list, it
doesn't make it any easier to swallow, especially given Arsenal's
insurmountable injury problems in recent seasons.
Speaking to French radio station RMC Sport, Philippe Lamboley, agent of
the four goals in four games boy wonder, responded to Wenger's initial
comments about his client.
