Jose Mourinho Reveals His Disappointment At Missed Signing

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he 'dreamed of' seeing Steven Gerrard in a Chelsea shirt and tried everything to get him to sign.
The Chelsea boss is never keen to admit to his shortcomings, but it appears he deeply regrets not being able to persuade the Liverpool captain to join him.
"We did everything to try and it was almost there," said Mourinho. "I was dreaming of Claude Makelele, Gerrard and Frank Lampard in midfield."
"We were playing in a proper triangle without a number 10 and playing Makalele in front of the defenders. Me, Mr. Abramovich and Peter Kenyon dreamed of that."

It's a common debate among football fans to wonder how many trophies a player of Gerrard's quality could have won if he put his loyalty to the side and made a big money move, but Mourinho says he has nothing but respect for Gerrard's decision.
"His people were open to him joining a top side like Chelsea, but he was always a red and I think the decision was right."
"I love his quote when he was saying in his life he would never score a goal against Liverpool. I love these words."
"I understand why he was almost, almost, almost coming to Chelsea. But he didn't and I respect that a lot."
Gerrard, 34, will finally leave Liverpool in the summer to join LA Galaxy. Let's just hope for your sake that they don't have a friendly against Liverpool, eh Stevie?
