APR host Rayon Sports in derby

Reigning league champions APR meet their biggest rivals Rayon Sports on Sunday evening at Amahoro stadium in the National Football League.
This is the fourth time they are meeting this year with APR winning twice in previous meetings including a 2-1 win in the quarterfinals of the Peace Cup as well as a 4-3 penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw at regular time in the Cecafa Kagame Cup.
The Blues however won the second round encounter in the league with a 2-1 victory in March this year having lost to APR 0-1 last year.
APR head coach Ljubomir Petrovic revealed that despite missing several key players, his side is eyeing a much needed victory.
The Serb said, “We want to win this game especially because it is against Rayon Sports. It will be good for the fans and also for us on the table standings.”
The army side is missing the services of playmaker Jean Claude Iranzi who is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards and injured goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli who is undergoing rehabilitation in Algeria.
Charles Tibingana and midfield maestro Andrew Buteera are yet to receive their national identity cards to show that they are Rwandan after the club adopted a policy to feature only Rwandan nationals.
The trio of central defender Emery Bayisenge, right back Michel Rusheshangoga and midfielder Yannick Mukunzi are a doubt for this fixture following their week off to do their final A’level examinations.
Meanwhile, Rayon Sports’ interim head coach Sosthene Habimana revealed that he will also be without the quartet of James Tubane who is undergoing eye treatment, Aphrodis Hategekimana who is out with an injury as well as Alype Majyambere and Djihad Bizimana who are also sitting for their final A’level examinations.
“It is sad that we are missing these key players however, we shall feature the ones available and try to win this game,” explained Habimana.
Both sides are tied on 10 points apiece with the Blues on top of the table standings on goal difference.
